Your ears carry the sound of the world to you. It makes the atmosphere more interesting with a beautiful tone palette. To ensure that you do not put yourself at risk of losing them, ear hygiene is essential. The first thing that you must not do is let the earwax build up. If you choose to remove it, what works best? Microsuction or syringing ear wax removal?

Visit the nearest hearing aid centre in Chennai to get your earwax removed before it starts impacting your hearing ability.

Reasons for ear wax build-up

Ear wax is an oily substance inside the ears that protects the inner ears from dust particles. Generally, ear wax would come out without any intervention. However, there are times when they get dislodged inside the ears and start to build up. It would cause discomfort and pain. If left unchecked, may even take the form of a hearing issue.

Here are some common reasons why such blockage occurs:

  • The ear canals are too narrow or hairy. It affects the free flow of particles and hence it paves the way for ear wax build-up.
  • Constant exposure to moisture may cause the wax to swell.
  • Earwax becomes dryer as a person gets old
  • Wearing a hearing aid bought from reputed Siemens hearing aid dealers in Chennai for a long time.

How can earwax be removed?

It is not advisable to use any methods other than prescribed ones. Some people would use swabs to clean their ears and this can cause severe ear infections or hearing loss if not done right.

Ear irrigation or syringing is a common method to remove earwax. But lately, many prefer to use micro-suction. In this blog post, you will know whether to choose microsuction or syringing ear wax removal.

Microsuction & Syringing — Which is the best?

Both methods are effective in removing excess build-up of ear wax. However, any one of them might not be advised depending upon the person.

Syringing

Ear irrigation takes anywhere between 15 to 30 minutes. The doctor will shoot low-pressure water to displace the ear wax and clear a path in the canal. This procedure is not at all painful but some people feel discomfort when the water hits their ear canal. It can also be messy with all the wax and water getting mixed up.

An audiologist would not perform syringing on those people who have recently undergone ear surgery. Additionally, this method will not be recommended to those who are suffering from an ear infection or perforated eardrums.

Microsuction

Microsuction is a safer means of ear wax removal since it is done dry. The audiologist uses a suction that sucks the ear wax much like a vacuum cleaner. This process is performed with the help of a microscope to get a clear view of the inner view while the audiologist is at work.

The entire procedure takes only ten to twenty minutes and this has very little chance of infection.

Even though microsuction is a less risky procedure. Nothing should supersede the opinion of an expert. Consult Adro Hearing Aid for all hearing needs. Get the best deals on our hearing aid price in Chennai.
